Aurora Youth 4 Success (AY4S) was
founded by a group of concerned citizens in Aurora, Colorado. The
group saw the need to create a “Hope Center” for Aurora that encompassed
the resources needed for youth to recreate, study, network, socialize,
access computers, develop work force ready skills, health sources, and
receive assistance with judicial matters. The AYC's hope was that a
Center would lead toward multiple pathways for a positive and productive
life and reduce drop-out and criminal activity in Central Aurora.
RMRPI was pleased to partner with the AY4S in the summer of 2009. AY4S's
first program was a 3-week pilot program for the youth of Aurora,
Colorado. The program, "Youth 4 Success," provided a safe place
for youth to explore new skills. Courses included: Culinary Arts;
Kidstek; Earth Force - Architecture & Engineering Design; Aurora
Apprentice: Business Skills; and Automotive: Be Nice to Your Car. All
participants in the program were also required to take the bonus course
“Alive @ 25” Safe Driving Course.
