AED Giveaway
In April 2008, 17 year
old Lindsay Hayden's heart stopped and she collapsed at school. She was
saved by an automatic external defibrillator (AED) that was available
thanks to the tireless efforts of Dan Lunger's parents. (Dan had been a
student at Lindsay's school and died because there wasn't an AED
available when he went into cardiac arrest.)
RMRPI
is pleased to announce that we are giving away one (1) Automated
External Defibrillator or AED to a worthy school or youth-related
non-profit organization.
An AED is a portable electronic device that automatically diagnoses the
potentially life threatening cardiac arrhythmias of ventricular
fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia in a patient, and is able to
treat them through defibrillation, the application of electrical therapy
which stops the arrhythmia, allowing the heart to reestablish an
effective rhythm.
AEDs are designed to be simple to use for the layman, and the use of
AEDs is taught in many first aid, first responder and basic life support
(BLS) level CPR classes.
To be entered to win,
please complete the form below by August 10, 2010. The winner will be
chosen by the RMRPI Board of Directors and notified by August 30, 2010.
If you are a
representative of a school or s nonprofit organization whose focus is
related to the health and safety of Colorado children, please complete
the form below. You must operate within a facility at which the AED may
be installed.
